Let It Snow

Perhaps you're wondering if this is the big week? Mom's a little restless these days and not sleeping exceptionally well. Last night, Will made a special guest appearance in our bed to snuggle up to mom and provide a foot in the side for dad. But since we all know that this isn't about how dad feels, I humbly accepted my role and my 1.5 feet of bed space (sans covers).

Will was busy this weekend learning the difference between good snow to eat, and icky snow. Fortunately there was mostly the good kind at our house and in the park since we got about 5 inches of snow on Saturday. We shoveled, scraped the cars, and made some snow angels. Then mom and Will got to go inside for sandwiches while dad was left to deal with the heavy and wet snow piles the Edina plows left at the end of the driveway. The embarrassment that I felt a couple of weeks ago when I tried to barrel roll the Maxima through the snow plow pile and got stuck won't happen again. The car sat halfway in and out of the end of the driveway. You could see the shameful scorns and shaking heads of the natives passing in front of our house (obviously noticing my Manhattan Nissan on the back of the car). I'm sure I even saw a couple of them mouth "Rookie" and "Idiot" as they drove their SUVs past my stuck sedan. I couldn't take it anymore and started throwing snowballs at the cars yelling, "I grew up here! Stop looking at me like that." Fortunately, just before the Crazy Wagon came by to pick me up, my neighbor helped push my car up into my driveway after I had cleared dug out a path. His last second comments about keeping sand and kitty litter in my trunk were not necessary, but duly noted. I have the sneaking suspicion he laughed about it at the office the next day with his co-workers. "You think that's bad, my neighbor..."

Anyway, big ups to our Norwegian friend Mona's mom for knitting Will an authentic sweater and hat. He looks very Nordic in his outfit and bounds through the snow like an arctic cat in search of the elusive jackalope. Thank you Maxi!
